Thriving in Babylon means that we will be tempted to listen to the influences of this world. John warns us that if something isn't pointing us to Jesus, it may be pointing us somewhere else. John points us to our identity in Christ as "Beloved". This was the very concept that Daniel hung on to in Babylon.
