In Daniel 3, King Nebuchadnezzar builds a statue of gold to show that he is not temporary, but permanent. He commands all the people to worship this statue or be burned in the fiery furnace. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are called to compromise their worship of Yahweh, but they refused.
